I’m Nicko Lunardi, founder of New Ethic Electric.
I’ve been in the electrical industry since 2006, starting out as an apprentice working on residential and commercial installations, maintenance, and safety services.
In 2013, I became a sole trader to gain more flexibility—both to shape my work around my values and to dedicate more time to environmental, social, and animal activism.
Roots in Environmentalism
My environmental journey began with Scabduty, a litter and waste awareness collective I co-founded. Together, we organised regular beach cleans and microplastic trawls around Neerim (Port Phillip Bay) and the Birrarung (Yarra River), raising awareness about pollution and its impact on local ecosystems.
This work inspired me to take action on a global scale. For five years, I volunteered with Sea Shepherd, sailing across the world as an electrician and engineer on marine conservation vessels, helping protect vulnerable marine life and combat illegal fishing.
These experiences deeply shaped the values that now drive New Ethic Electric.
